Telluride Mountain School

Telluride Mountain School is a non-profit independent school located in the San Juan Mountains of Southwest Colorado. Students develop critical thinking, aesthetic expression and ethical behavior, through a challenging values-based curriculum, experiential learning program and service learning trips, students develop critical thinking, aesthetic expression and ethical behavior.

The Mountain School offers a preschool through high school education, serving approximately 100 students from throughout the Telluride region. Preschool and lower school children follow a Montessori curriculum, which transitions into a traditional college preparatory curriculum.

Telluride Academy

Located in the San Juan wilderness, Telluride Academy, a non-profit organization, provides children and teens with enriching, experiential programs that span the globe. We help to for a reliable inner compass within each camper that guides compassion and creative learning, responsible choices and environmental stewardship.

Ah Haa School

Ah Haa School for the Arts is a community center of learning and culture that offers a wide variety of programs and seeks to inspire individuals of all ages to explore, develop and celebrate their creativity.

In 2007, Ah Haa School moved from the Silver Bell Building into Telluride's turn-of-the-century train depot located at 300 S. Townsend Ave. Facilities consist of indoor and outdoor classrooms, gallery space, ceramics studio, commercial kitchen space and administrative offices. In addition to the depot space, Ah Haa School also offers classes and workshops in the historic Stone Building located at 117 N. Willow Street.

As a family friendly resort town, there are many great activities for children to participate in during the summertime. Camps and summer activities encompass all of the things that make Telluride so incredible: the outdoors, arts, sports and adventure.

Telluride also offers a rich history, great facilities such as public pool, skate parks, library and several playgrounds. Both you and your family will have an experience of a lifetime in Telluride and many of our visitors have been returning through the generations.

The Wilkinson Public Library children’s section has books for kids of all ages, reference materials, computers, interactive CDs, videos and DVDs. Story hours are conducted on a regular basis. A separate young adult section features a comfortable seating area as well as a wide selection of books and other media.

Telluride Rock and Roll Academy (970)-728-1186
The academy offers classes in the art of playing music in a band. Instruction on guitar, bass, drums, piano and vocals, as well as a full-service audio and video recording facility.



Sheridan Opera House (970)728-6363
The Sheridan Arts Foundation offers performance workshops for kids ages 6-18. Acting, dancing, song writing and comedy are just a few of the creative and fun classes taught. Call to obtain a schedule or enroll.




Skateboarders and rollerbladers can ride year round until content. Come check out the our new facility located in Town Park (built by Grindline Skateparks). Our Skate Park is open from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Lighting at night is on a timer. Telluride Youth Link on Pacific Avenue has a smaller skate park.



The Telluride Youth Link offers recreational and educational activities for youth ages 11-17. On the premises is free access to computers, a skateboard ramp, TV, VCR/DVD and stereo. The snack bar provides nourishment, and the recreational programs offered include regional trips, river rafting, skate and service learning projects.

Sponsored and supervised by the Horizon Program, the climbing gym is open at Telluride Middle/High School most week nights for climbers of all ages. Shoes and harnesses are available.

Thrill Hill (970)-728.7517
Thrill Hill in Mountain Village offers tubing from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Tubing is offered seven days a week during peak holidays. Tubes provided.



A nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities by providing education and recreational opportunities that encourage personal growth. Winter is focused on skiing, while the summer programs are more extensive.
